Lawns Along the River's Three Branches

Hydroseeding in Clinton Township happens where the Clinton River comes together. The river forms from three branches within the township, then runs east into Harrison Township and on to Lake St. Clair. With branches winding through neighborhoods, a lot of backyards end at a riverbank or an open drain, and soil from those yards has a short trip into the water.

River-side yards

Banks along the branches need more than grass seed. Along the Clinton's branches we pin coir or straw blanket down the bank face, or spray bonded fiber matrix where the bank is too uneven for rolls, keep the yard grade from funneling water straight over the bank, and use a deeper-rooted mix near the water. Above the bank, regular hydroseed takes care of the lawn.

The largest township in Michigan

Clinton Township had 100,513 residents in 2020, the most of any township in the state, on just over 28 square miles. That density means mostly established neighborhoods. Our work here is lawn repair, regrading after utility or drainage work, and replacing lawns killed by grubs, drought or construction.

Old roads, old ground

Moravian Drive is the township's oldest road, dating from Moravian missionary activity; the first settlement, Gnadenhuetten, was set up in 1782. Areas settled that long ago often have had several rounds of grading and fill, so before planning a regrade we find out what is buried below.

Macomb County permits

The county's soil erosion office reviews projects for best management practices that keep sediment on site, and plans must show any county drain or easement on the property. For most lawn repair, no permit is needed, but river-side and drain-side grading should be checked first.

Clinton Township Questions

My yard ends at a branch of the Clinton River. Can you seed the bank?

Yes. Riverbanks get pinned coir or straw blanket, or bonded fiber matrix on rough ground, with a deeper-rooted mix close to the water.

Do I need a permit to regrade near a county drain?

Possibly. Macomb County plans must show county drains and easements, so check with the county before grading there.

Grubs killed half my lawn. Can hydroseed bring it back?

Yes, once the grub problem is treated. We rake out dead turf and hydroseed the bare areas.

Can you repair the yard after a sewer line replacement?

Yes. We settle and grade the trench line, add topsoil and seed it.
